Ex-Brookside star Brian Regan charged with murder of bouncer shot at point blank range
A former soap star has been charged with the murder of a bouncer shot in the head at point blank range outside a pub.
Brian Regan, who played Terry Sullivan in Brookside, is accused of killing Bahman Faraji who was gunned down in Liverpool.
Regan, 53, has been charged alongside Lee George Dodson, 42. Both are from Garston in Liverpool.
They are due to appear before magristrates' in city today. Regan is also charged with perverting the course of justice.
Father-of-one Mr Faraji, originally from Iran, was killed outside the Belgrave Pub on February 24.
Mr Farjar, who moved to Liverpool 15 years ago, was believed to have been well connected in the Liverpool underworld.
Known to many as 'Batman' and sporting a scar which ran almost down the entire side of his face, he is thought to have manned the doors at several city centre nightclubs and bars in recent years.
post-mortem tests found he died from a single gun shot wound to the head. He is believed to be a victim of a targeted attack.
Two friends were with him at the time of the shooting and watched in horror as a peaked-capped gunman struck.
The shooter then walked away with the murder weapon - a shotgun - tucked under his arm to waiting car.
Regan rose to fame when he joined Brookside as Terry Sullivan in episode six and went on to star in many of its most gripping storylines.
His character, along with that of Barry Grant, played by Paul Usher, was said to be the inspiration behind Harry Enfield’s famous 'Scousers' comedy creation.
Regan left the soap in February 1997, after quitting once before to try his hand at acting in London.
